Work on the redevelopment of the East Stand at Northampton Town's Sixfields Stadium has been halted after a 'contractual dispute'.
Plans were given the green light in November 2013 and the work to increase the capacity from 7,653 to 10,000 started in the summer, at the end of the 2013/14 season.
But the club have now confirmed that tools have been downed until further notice, citing 'legal matters' as the reason for its halt.
The East Stand scheme has been part-funded by the local council, with £12million having been contributed to the project.
A club spokesman said: "We would like to apologise to supporters that updates regarding the building of the East Stand haven't been as detailed or as regular as we would wish.
"The dispute has not come as a surprise or a shock to the club, and was expected."
