Wembley Stadium, the home of English football, is reported to be in advanced stages with five companies over a possible naming rights deal.
The renaming of football stadiums has proven to be a controversial topic among fans and media alike but none will conjure up the feelings among English fans as altering the world-renowned Wembley Stadium name.
The Football Association have welcomed renaming deals as it would provide lucrative revenue needed to repay the outstanding debts that were taken out to build the £757m arena.
Venue operators and Wembley National Stadium Limited have declined to comment of the reports but it is believe the proposed sponsors are sensitive about the 'Wembley' name's history and heritage. Any possible agreement would include maintaining the historic venue's name; instead a sponsor's name could sit before or after 'Wembley Stadium'.
