Microsoft has confirmed it is in negotiations with Real Madrid regarding naming rights for their ground, the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
The Spanish football club's stadium, which seats more than 80,000 spectators, is set to undergo major renovation but, according to some reports, Madrid are around 541 million Euros in debt, so could benefit from a large financial investment.
Maria Garana, president of Microsoft Espana, said: “They've raised...renaming the stadium, and we're only talking about this possibility.
"We have an excellent relationship with Real Madrid and in fact we recently signed an agreement with its foundation."
Although discussions are at a preliminary stage, many fans of the football club are not happy, largely due to the stadium's current naming after Santiago Bernabeu, considered one of the club's greatest presidents.
The current president, Florentino Perez, claimed back in October they were assessing prospective sponsors, but it appears no decision will be taken until the middle of next year.
