SWANSEA COUNCIL ENTER TALKS OVER LIBERTY STADIUM PURCHASE

Swansea council have begun negotiations with Swansea City Football Club over the sale of the Liberty Stadium.

Reports over a potential sale began to circulate in January, with the council supposedly open to the idea.

Swansea City are in talks for a deal to buy the Liberty outright but requirements for the Ospreys rugby union club would also need protecting.

Council leader, Rob Stewart, said: "Positive, exploratory discussions with the Swans have now started about selling the Liberty Stadium to them.

"The potential sale of the Liberty Stadium would generate even more income that would help protect as many services as possible for residents."
