Scunthorpe United chairman, Peter Swann, hopes the League 2 club can move into a new stadium by the start of the 2014/15 season.
Speaking at the Irons AGM last night, he outlined proposals for the plans to build a 12,000 capacity all-seater venue on an as yet unnamed location.
Swann did announce that a single site has been identified for the project 'not far away' from their current Glanford Park home.
The ground, likely to be named through sponsorship, would be expandable to hold 18,000 people, and could also include a hotel, gym, office, restaurant, 3G and 4G pitches, a crèche and possible NHS/ teaching facilities.
The plans, which would cost around £18 million, are in their early stages with no agreement yet being made between the club and the proposed site’s landowner.
Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, Liz Redfearn, has backed the move into a community venue.
