The San Francisco 49ers have announced that they have sold out of season tickets for its inaugural season at the new Levi’s Stadium.
The National Football League (NFL) franchise are yet to open the 68,500-seater stadium
, which cost $1.2 billion to construct, but only have space for an additional 1,500 standing-room only tickets for single games.
Initial fears that the move from Candlestick Park would price fans out have now been allayed, with around 70% of season ticket holders transferring to the new venue.
The 49ers are scheduled to play their first regular-season NFL game at the stadium in the middle of September, against the Chicago Bears.
Before that, San Jose Earthquakes and the Seattle Sounders will contest a soccer match in the first game at the venue, in August 2014.
