The home of Salford Red Devils and Sale Sharks is to be renamed The AJ Bell Stadium after a naming rights deal was agreed.

The Manchester-based financial services company have signed a nine-year deal with the operators of the 12,000-capacity stadium, which has already staged international matches in both football and rugby league.

Billy Mackay, the marketing director of AJ Bell, said: "We are delighted to put our name to this first-class sporting facility, and to be associated with a club with the pedigree of Sale Sharks."

Sale's head of commercial sales, Andrew Lamb, told BBC Radio Manchester: "It's a nine-year term and the first stadium naming rights deal in our history.

"It's a good term for the club and for the region."
