The Wankhede Stadium will host the Ranji Trophy final between Mumbai and Saurashtra starting on January 26th.
It was announced on Monday by the Board of Control for Cricket in India that the final would be held at the Wankhede Stadium, the venue also scheduled to host ICC Women's World Cup 2013, as requested by the Mumbai Cricket Association.
The ICC must now reschedule the opening World Cup Group A game, between India and the West Indies, as it was planned to be held at the venue on January 31st.
Mumbai Cricket Association joint secretary Nitin Dalal said on Sunday that they would try to get the ICC Women's World Cup match shifted from the Wankhede Stadium if Mumbai advance.
Dalal said: "If we enter the final we want to hold it at our stadium and not elsewhere. Why should we do so? We will ask the opening Women's World Cup match to be shifted to the nearby CCI [Cricket Club of India also located in Mumbai]."
