OLYMPIC STADIUM TRANSFORMATION BEGINS

Transformation work on the Olympic Stadium in London has begun.

Work has commenced with contractor Carey's removing 25,000 seats and the grass field to prepare the stadium for Balfour Beatty Group, who will take down the current roof.

A new roof, which will be considerably larger than the one that was used at the Olympic Stadium during the Games, will be built and installed by spring 2015.

Hospitality areas, toilets and turnstiles will also be installed, as well as the playing surface, by spring 2015, ready for the Rugby World Cup matches that are due to take place at the venue in September and October of that year.
