The London Olympic Stadium could be closed until 2016 according to Dennis Hone.
The £468m stadium, which will be reduced in capacity to 60,000, is due to host the World Athletics Championships in 2017, but the war over its long term tenancy rages on despite the delayed timeframe. If West Ham United's bid, which remains the clear favourite of the four, is accepted, the club may not move in until the 2016-17 season.
The re-opening of the stadium was expected to be August 2014 but Hone, chief executive of the London Legacy Development Corporation, said: A 2014 reopening is "completely out, it would be August 2015 at the absolute earliest and possibly August 2016."
