Cardiff is expected to host this season's European Rugby showpiece with the announcement set to be made on Wednesday.
The game was originally due to take place in the French capital Paris, but they withdrew from staging the match when the availability of the Stade de France became unclear.
Chief Executive of Welsh Rugby, Roger Lewis, said: "I'll be working with the Welsh Government and Cardiff City council to ensure we put forward the best bid possible to bring the European Cup to Wales next year."
The Welsh venue has hosted the Heineken Cup Final on six previous occasions.
It is understood the Amlin Cup Final is also likely to be played in Cardiff next season, with the game taking place at Cardiff Blues' Arms Park stadium.
