LONDON WELSH TO LEAVE KASSAM STADIUM

London Welsh have announced plans to leave the Kassam Stadium.

The rugby union team have shared the venue with Oxford United Football Club since September 2012, when they were promoted to the Premiership.

They have since suffered relegation and have revealed they are hoping to redevelop Witney Town's old football ground and play their matches there.

A proposal to turn the Polythene Stadium into a 10,000 capacity venue, with 6,000 seats, has been submitted to West Oxfordshire planners.

"The costs we currently have at the Kassam are difficult to justify," London Welsh commercial director David Jenkins told BBC Radio Oxford.
