A 2014 World Cup venue's roof has collapsed due to heavy rainfall.

The Arena Fonte Nova in the north-eastern city of Salvador was reportedly not able to sustain the large amount of water that settled on top of the venue after it rained heavily overnight.

To keep other parts from collapsing, roughly 20 workers used buckets to clear the sections of the roof which still had water on it. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

The Fonte Nova was inaugurated in April and will host three Confederations Cup matches in June and it will also be used in the 2014 World Cup.
