FC United of Manchester’s move into Broadhurst Park has been put back by a month due to construction delays.
The club, who currently play at Stalybridge Celtic’s Bower Field, were hoping to relocate to the Ronald Johnson Playing Fields in Moston by the end of September, but bosses now believe it is more likely for the end of October.
The delay to the 5,000-capacity stadium
stems from issues due to the unusually dry weather, with groundsmen unable to harness enough water to dampen sand and setbacks in uprooting an old stand from Northwich Victoria’s former home.
The Rebels hope to launch the new ground with a high-profile friendly before hosting Evo-Stik Northern Premier League fixtures at the ground.
