Construction on San Jose Earthquakes' new 18,000 capacity stadium is scheduled to begin on February 26th.
Workers will begin on the Major League Soccer franchise's privately funded future home by clearing the 75-acre site across from Mineta San Jose International Airport and is expected to be completed in early 2014.
Club president Dave Kaval commented: "We want to open for beginning of next season, but it's almost too early to say."
The MLS team hired Devcon Construction as the general contractor. The Milpitas-based firm is also overseeing the 49ers' stadium construction in Santa Clara.
The Earthquakes currently play their home games at Buck Shaw Stadium.
