Sheffield Council have confirmed that there are plans for a new school to be built on the site of the Don Valley Stadium.
And those proposals are threatening a last-gasp attempt to save the venue from closure, which is being headed by former athlete Lewis Samuel.
The council has until September 25th to make a decision on the Community Asset Transfer bid from the group led by Samuel, who believes he and his fellow campaigners are still in with a chance of taking control of the venue.
No planning application has been submitted for the new school, which would be for pupils aged two to 16.
