Mississippi State University Athletics Director Scott Stricklin anticipates the school will break ground on an $80 million expansion of the Davis Wade Stadium.
It is hoped that the process will begin later this summer or soon after.
Stricklin said: "In the coming weeks, bidding will open and soon after that you're looking at groundbreaking. It's hard to pin down a timeline on that right now but it's close, which is obviously very exciting."
The expansion is expected to raise David Wade Stadium's capacity to over 50,000. In addition, a $25 million football complex is expected to be completed in January.
