COVENTRY CITY WOULD PAY RENT AT NEW STADIUM

Coventry City chairman Tim Fisher has revealed that the club would pay rent if they moved into a new stadium built by owners Sisu.

The Sky Blues currently play their home games at the Ricoh Arena, a ground operated by Premiership rugby union side Wasps after their move from Wycombe.

The football club only receive a share of the business’ income, with club bosses insisting their own ground is required in order to generate money all-year round and become self-sustainable.

Sisu have long stated their desire to build a new home near around Coventry in order to access this revenue.

Mr Fishers told the Coventry Telegraph: “The capital cost [of construction] would be met by a separate company, a property company. That’s the norm throughout football with projects like this.

“The absolutely critical thing here is that the football club would benefit from all matchday and non-matchday revenues generated.”
