Brentford have confirmed that a decision over their new stadium at Lionel Road has been delayed.
The planning application was passed by Hounslow Council on the 5th December, but a final decision on the project, which includes a 20,000 capacity stadium with 11 surrounding tower blocks, was due to be made on Wednesday 29th January.
However, the Mayor of London Boris Johnson and the Secretary of State for communities and local government are yet to approve the scheme.
City Hall have stated that the hold-up is due to the number of objections.
The Mayor’s two options now are to either rubber stamp the build or call it in for further scrutiny and arrange a ‘yes or no’ meeting.
The Bees, in partnership with Brentford Independent Association of Supporters (BIAS), have launched a petition and are urging supporters to sign.
Brentford have played at their current home of Griffin Park since 1904.
