AMBULANCE PROBLEM LEADS TO SANTOS STADIUM CLOSURE

Santos have been prohibited from hosting matches at its Vila Belmiro Stadium by the Brazil's sports tribunal.

The situation has arose because an ambulance didn't have access to the field when a player was injured in a Brazilian league match.

Atletico Mineiro defender Rafael Marques was on the ground for nearly 10 minutes after collapsing, having being hit in the head in a match against Santos on Wednesday. The long delay was because the ambulance couldn't get onto the pitch because of a blocked entrance, he was eventually transported from the field on a stretcher.

The tribunal says the Vila Belmiro Stadium can be reopened after Santos prove they have made changes to allow the entrance of ambulances.

Marques spent the night in a hospital but was released the next day after tests showed no serious injuries.
