Turkish professional football side Bursaspor has begun construction on a brand new 45,000-seater stadium that has a real architectural bite.
Bursaspor is nicknamed the 'Green Crocodiles' and local design firm Sozuneri Architects has taken that theme to the next level on a grand scale. Timsah Stadium will feature a crocodile roof wrapped around the outside of the venue providing a rather different way to intimidate opponents.
The crocodile’s two eyeholes will each feature a beam of lights firing into the skies.
All building work is scheduled for the end of 2012 when Bursaspor will move from its current home ground, the 25,000-seat Bursa Ataturk Stadium. The 150,000m2 arena will boast state-of-the-art facilities and totally transform the central suburb of Osmangazi, in the club's home city of Bursa.
