Corby Town Football Club has revealed its new stadium will be known as Steel Park.

The new name was voted by visitors to Corby Borough Council's website last week after fans were encouraged to come up with the best names for the 3,893 capacity venue. A club spokesman said: “We'll update you with details of the winners shortly.

“Please accept our apologies for the short and sharp nature of stories going on to the website tonight but there is a lot to do in the stadium before we kick-off,” he added. Corby take on League 1 side Notts County later today in the ground’s opening match.

Steel Park includes a mainstand which was erected with room for 577 spectators. Supporters are also able to stand on the terrace behind the goal and around the perimeter of the pitch.

The site also has training pitches, tennis courts, an athletics track, boardroom, sponsors lounge and changing rooms.
