Hordes of angry Fenerbahce fans clashed with Turkish police and occupied the pitch following a league title match.

The Istanbul side’s historic rival, Galatasaray, won the Turkish league championship following Saturday's goalless derby leaving home supporters venting their anger. Police moved in to protect Galatasaray players at Fenerbahce's Sukru Saracoglu stadium as hundreds of fans stormed the pitch.

After the final whistle enraged fans broke plastic seating and hurled them, as well as flares, at the police and opposition players. Violence spilled on the streets outside the stadium, with Fenerbahce fans pelting a police vehicle with stones.

The chaos continued long after with rioters overturning rubbish bins and smashed shop windows, leaving nearby streets littered with debris.
