A new 40,000-seater multi-purpose stadium in Ndola, Zambia, is expected to be completed ahead of schedule.

It is expected that work on Ndola Stadium will be completed three months ahead of schedule in June 2011, against the initial October 2011 deadline.

Ndola Stadium will feature a running track and also a VIP stand higher than 50m. It will replace the current large stadium in Ndola, Dag Hammarskjöld Stadium.

Once completed, the venue will host the remaining 2012 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) football qualifiers and other major international matches.

Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe, Zambia used to host international matches but was declared unfit to host international matches.
