Derby County Football Club's Pride Park Stadium has been selected to host a prestigious international football friendly next week.

Five-time World Cup winners Brazil will grace the Pride Park playing surface against Ukraine on Monday 11 October.

Brazil have played a number of games in England in recent years, mainly at the Emirates, the home of Arsenal.

Derby County CEO Tom Glick told "This is a fantastic opportunity, we’re immensely proud and it’s a real opportunity to showcase the city of Derby and what a fantastic venue Pride Park Stadium is to the whole world."

Pride Park has a capacity of 33,597 and club officials are expecting a big attendance.

Councillor Harvey Jennings, Leader of Derby City Council, also told “This is really exciting news for football fans and for the city as a whole.

"To have world class players at Pride Park really puts the city on the footballing map and gives Derby residents a chance to see some international quality football on their doorstep."
