NORTHERN IRELAND STADIUM CLOSER TO FUNDING

The long awaited multi-million pound redevelopment of Casement Park, Windsor Park and Ravenhill is moving closer to approval by the Stormont Executive.

The £110 million plan will be presented to the Stormont Culture arts and leisure committee on Thursday.

The project includes demolishing GAA venue Casement Park in west Belfast and rebuilding a 40,000-seater stadium.

It also includes plans to redevelop Windsor Park increasing capacity to 18,000 along with rugby venue, Ravenhill further developed to accommodate 15,000 spectators.

Sports Minister Nelson McCausland has yet to agree the plans which are due to go before Finance Minister Sammy Wilson's department to get the rubber stamped approval by the Northern Ireland Executive.
