Bristol City Football Club will host an England Under-21 international friendly at Ashton Gate in August.

The match against Uzbekistan will be played on Tuesday 10th August and will be the Under-21s' fourth visit to Bristol.

England’s last visit to Ashton Gate came in August 2007 when Stuart Pearce's side held Romania 1-1 in front of more than 18,500 fans.

The other two previous encounters at Ashton Gate both ended in victories; against Italy 1-0 in February 1997 and over Turkey by three goals to nil back in 1985.

City's managing director Doug Harman told club website: "We're absolutely delighted to be welcoming the Under-21s back to Ashton Gate.

"Stuart Pearce brought his team here three years ago and was thrilled with the pitch, hospitality and facilities on offer.

"A lot of hard work has gone into gaining another showpiece fixture and hopefully the Bristol public will turn out in force just like they did three years ago."
