Hereford United Football Club has been given the green light by the local council to begin developments at Edgar Street.

Herefordshire Council has granted full planning for the new Blackfriars Stand and the club will now be pushing ahead with the rebuilding plan.

The stand which will cost around £1.3 million will seat just over 1,600 people and will bring the ground capacity to nearly 6,000.

Tenders for the demolition of the old stand are still being processed and the club's architects are now busy drawing up a schedule for the work at Edgar Street.

Bulls' vice-chairman, Tim Russon, said: "What with this news and the appointment of Simon Davey this is turning into a good news week."
